TEDxTallaght. Watch this space!

I would like to share a dream that I had and which has now come true!

I love all the information that can be found on the internet. Some years ago I came across TED.com.

What is that you may ask? When people asked, “what does TED stand for” I could never remember, so I think it is about time to give the real answer other than going on about how great it is. TED stands for Technology, Education and Design. It all began in 1984 at a conference to bring together technology, education and design devoted to spreading ideas from science to business to global issues. Out of this evolved TED talks of 18 minute long videos in around 100 languages available free online. TED is a non-profit organisation. The TED organisation is putting together people with ideas and people who are curious.

TEDx was formed to allow independently run events to take place to share ideas. This allows communities around the world to gather individuals with ideas to share. Sometimes these talks go viral as did Brene Brown on Vulnerability; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4Qm9cGRub0 in TEDxHouston.

So, what does this have to do with me? I dreamt that one day I would stand on a TED stage. I am so proud to say that it has happened at TEDxTallaght in October 2016, yes just a couple of weeks ago!! Tallaght is a district of Dublin. Going to Dublin was another dream come true. I made the visit to Dublin a holiday with my husband and we enjoyed the culture and the Guinness and met some wonderful people. I spent a wonderful evening as one of a group of presenters at TEDxTallaght with the theme Gathering Momentum to share our ideas with people who are curious.

I am so excited and waiting for the talk to be published, the editing is in process. Watch this space and I will post the link when it is published! My talk is titled ‘Our Amazing Bodies’.
